つくりてっくShopify Developer in Japan

For Shopify agencies

Your client wants to sell in Japan. I'll take care of the Japan part.

I'm Shunki Nakamura, a Shopify developer in Osaka. I set up what Japanese shoppers notice: the payment methods they use, the seller disclosure page they look for, duties and delivery, and Japanese that reads like it was written in Japan. Fixed price, everything in writing, and you stay the client's point of contact.

01 / Japan

What Japanese shoppers look for

The things I check first on any store that wants to sell in Japan.

01

The payment methods they use

Cards work, but many shoppers also expect to pay at a convenience store (konbini), by bank transfer, or with a buy now, pay later service. Which of these a store can add depends on the payment provider and its review. Konbini payments, for example, can be added through providers such as KOMOJU, which pays out in USD, EUR or JPY (KOMOJU's website, October 2026).

02

A seller disclosure page

Online shops in Japan publish a page under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions: who the seller is, how to reach them, shipping fees, when payment is taken, when the order arrives, and the return policy. Shoppers who don't know a store often check it before buying.

03

No surprise charges on delivery

Shopify can collect duties and import taxes at checkout on every plan, as long as the products have HS codes and the shipping setup supports it (Shopify Help Center, October 2026). Customers pay one price up front instead of a bill at the door.

04

Delivery dates and time slots

If the store ships from a warehouse in Japan, shoppers expect to choose a delivery date and a time slot, as they can with domestic carriers. I set this up with an app or theme work.

05

Japanese that reads naturally

Machine-translated pages are easy to spot, and so are emails that switch back to English halfway through. I write or review the storefront, checkout and notification emails as a native speaker.

02 / Process

How it works with your agency

  1. Send me the store URL

Tell me what your client wants, from JPY prices only to a full Japanese storefront. You don't need to give me access yet.

  2. Get a free write-up

Within 3 business days, I send a one-page write-up: what's in place, what's missing, how to fix each item (a setting, an app, or custom work) and a fixed price. One free write-up per agency.

  3. I do the work

Through a Shopify collaborator account on your client's store. Specs and progress notes are written so you can forward them to your client as they are.

  4. You review and hand over

You stay the client's point of contact. I reply within 24 hours (JST) and work in writing, so time zones aren't a problem.

Shopify developer, Osaka, Japan

I've contributed to builds at a Shopify Plus partner agency, including stores doing over ¥10 million a month and a site with around 300,000 members. On my own, I've built a store in 4 languages and 5 currencies, and a B2B store where buyers request a quote instead of checking out.

Before building anything, I check Shopify's official documentation and tell you in writing whether it's a setting, an app or custom work. If something can't be done, you hear it before work starts.
